| SOOO I just got a couple used ferret nation cages, and would love any tips you guys can give me on how to get rid of the YUCKY FERRET SMELL ..... oh my goodness they are sooooo smelly...my boyfriend and i were trapped in the car with them for over an hour. there is no way i am giving my chinchillas the cages until the smell is COMPLETELY GONE
what do i use??? bleach? vinegar? | |

| Vinegar and water should work, and it's safe for the chins Just make sure you rinse with water after cleaning with vinegar. | |

| Haha good luck! I got Chester's cage used from someone who had ferrets, so I had to do the same thing | |

| Thanks guys! well i just spent 2 hours scrubbing them.....ugh... what a pain... and pretty much half of all the screw holes were rusteddddd... and we bought all new bolts but they don't fit D: i guess the cage makers used metric... grr.. AND they still stink!!!! | |

| This project is going to be extremely difficult unless I am just over thinking it. The smell of Ferrets is just plastered all over the cage and inside of the hollow tubes where the bolts fasten in. I wish I could boil all of the cage sections in hot water or something but that doesn't seem like a possibility. I think we are going to have to power wash them with a good hose attachment to try and clean the inner hollow part of the cage frames where most of the smell is trapped. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated on where to go from here. Thanks. | |
